Classic: The "Golden Triangle" of Greenland
The Classic Golden Triangle of West Greenland. This is one of our all-time bestsellers and a very classic tour to the triangle of three towns in West Greenland: Kangerlussuaq, Sisimiut and Ilulissat. The 11-day trip includes a coastal vessel cruise. You experience all the must-see sights of Greenland. Get ready to be impressed, as the wow factor is incredibly high.
You will cross the Arctic Circle. You get to encounter musk oxen. You will visit the Ice Cap in Kangerlussuaq and see Sisimiut’s beautiful houses that appear as small coloured spots in the rocky landscape. Let the spectacular ice fjord in Ilulissat take your breath away with its myriads of ice – ranging from small cubes to gigantic chunks in various colours depending on the reflecting sunlight.
Getting from one destination to the next will happen by plane as well as coastal vessel. This offers a unique chance for you to get an impression of the vastness of the world’s largest island. The distance from the north to the south of the island corresponds to the distance from Scotland to the Sahara!
The trip is available from June to August, which is Greenlandic summer at its best, with midnight sun and contrasting impressions: Green mountains and white icebergs. Stark sunlight and misty fog. Soft flower valleys and cool glaciers. Rocks that cut through vast desolate spaces. Temperatures are mild and Greenland's national flower, Niviarsiaq, bluebells and mountain-batten dress the mountains in beautiful colours.
Please note this! The departures June 11, June 18, July 9, July 16, and August 6 have an extra day to the program presented below. On these tours, you depart on Tuesdays rather than Wednesdays. This gives you an extra overnight stay in Kangerlussuaq and includes a sightseeing tour where we will visit base area, the harbor and the sled dogs of the settlement.
"This tour gave us a degree of independence and flexibility, whilst taking care of our overall travel needs. We didn't feel as though we were part of a big tour. We are not attracted to tours that feel highly organised so this was ideal for us."D. R. Collins
