Our 5-day New Year’s trips have been a coveted trip since 2017. They were a success right from the beginning. Many did not think it was possible to sell trips to Greenland in December, but it quickly turned out that this was wrong. According to some of our customers, the only problem is that the trip is a little too short, so this year we are doing our New Year’s trip in two versions: A 5-day and a 7-day trip!
This is the slightly longer version of the New Year’s trip. Again, we listened to the customers, who did not think there was a lack of excursions on the trip. Instead, they lacked extra time for relaxation and contemplation. See the shorter trip here.
New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve is quite special in Greenland because we celebrate it twice: At 9 pm for Denmark and at midnight for Greenland! Most of us have family and friends in Denmark that we think about a lot, so we want to show it by celebrating the New Year with them when their clock strikes 12. That’s why, at 9 pm, we do fireworks for them to invite them happily into the new year. Then we go back in, eat some more, have fun, and wait for us to celebrate our own New Year.
The Polar Night
Our guests love the unique light we have in the middle of the polar night season. You are here in the middle of winter, so the day feels like dusk, and it’s dark at night. You can enjoy the warmth of the hotel indoors, and of course, you have to take advantage of that. You can also play cards, watch movies, and read books – the possibilities are endless. Our skilled tour guides give small lectures and have a few quizzes up their sleeve – and there will also be time for play and games.
Greenland’s nature is beautiful all year round. In winter, it is wonderful when it is covered with a blanket of snow and ice, creating the opportunity for countless experiences under the northern lights.
You will experience fireworks, sled dogs, northern lights, huge icebergs, and snow-capped cliffs, but you also get days on your own where you can relax or walk out on your own – and the possibilities are many.
