Round Trip: Off the Beaten Track
8 days in beautiful surroundings
Join us on our off-the-beaten-track tour of Greenland. The trip combines popular destinations in Greenland with several unique and unspoiled places around the Arctic Circle. You’ll have to look far and wide for a more varied trip that combines nature, culture, and history.
If you’re an active and curious traveler, this trip is for you. You’ll have nature experiences so impressive you won’t believe your eyes. And in unspoiled areas, we’ll sail, hike, and even ride ATVs.
We take you to unique natural gems that even the most experienced Greenland traveler dreams of. Along the way, we stay in hotels and even in a camp on the ice sheet itself.
Overnight Stay on the Ice Sheet
The adventure starts on your first day when, after arriving in Kangerlussuaq, we head straight to the magnificent Greenland Ice Sheet. From the edge of the ice, we hike onto the ice to Camp Ice Cap, which we can call home on our first night in Greenland. The following day, we can recharge our batteries or go hiking in the hinterland of Kangerlussuaq before flying south to the small town of Maniitsoq on the third day, from where we sail out and experience the mythical Eternal Fjord.
Sailing on the Eternal Fjord
The Eternal Fjord has always fascinated people because of its length, the three significant bends it makes along the way, and not least, the beautiful glaciers from the ice sheet that flow into the fjord. The interest has not diminished since author Kim Leine wrote his bestseller The Prophets of the Eternal Fjord.
After a few days in Maniitsoq with visits to a stunning blue lake and, not least, Eternal Fjord, we continue north again to Sisimiut, Greenland’s second-largest town.
Adventure in Sisimiut
Sisimiut is known as the adventure capital of Greenland and is always busy, both in summer and winter. We’ll sail to the abandoned settlement of Assaqutaq, which is beautifully situated on a small island connected to the mainland only by a suspension bridge. We’ll also spend our last full day in Greenland on ATVs, where we’ll see a lot of nature.
In addition to the nature experiences, the trip gives you a good insight into life as it is lived today in small and large towns in Greenland. You will also get a cultural insight into the early Inuit migrations to Greenland. At several places along the way, we visit former settlements and feel the wings of history.
All excursions mentioned in the program are included in the tour price.
