Day program

Peter Lindstrøm - Visit Greenland
Day 1:
Flight Copenhagen – Nuuk, check-in, and optional city tour

You arrive in Greenland’s capital, Nuuk — a city where modern life meets Arctic nature. At the airport, you are welcomed by our local representative, who ensures a smooth transfer to the centrally located Hotel Hans Egede Express.

City tour (part of the excursion package)

After check-in, you can join a guided city tour that introduces you to the town’s history, architecture, and everyday life — from the old Colonial Harbor to modern cultural venues.
In the evening, we recommend dining at one of the town’s cozy restaurants, where Greenlandic ingredients and views of the fjord set the tone for the days ahead.

Day 2:
Flight Nuuk – Ilulissat. Optional city tour, Sermermiut, and Icefjord Cruise

After breakfast, your journey continues north to Ilulissat — the town by the Icefjord. Upon arrival, you are met at the airport and transferred to the magnificent Hotel Arctic, where you will stay with views of Disko Bay’s impressive icebergs.

Hike to Sermermiut (part of the excursion package)

In the afternoon, you can join a guided hike to Sermermiut — an ancient settlement with more than 4,000 years of history. The route follows wooden walkways through Arctic landscapes and culminates in a breathtaking view of the Ilulissat Icefjord. Here, silence speaks, and you sense the presence of centuries past.

In the evening, we enjoy a welcome dinner at Hotel Arctic (beverages not included).

Icefjord Cruise (part of the excursion package)

You may also choose an unforgettable boat trip among the majestic icebergs of Ilulissat Icefjord — a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 3:
Boat transfer to Ilimanaq Lodge – Welcome to tranquility and grandeur

In the morning, you travel by boat from Ilulissat to Ilimanaq — a small settlement with around 50 inhabitants. Here, you will stay in an architect-designed bungalow with panoramic views of Disko Bay. After arrival and a welcome drink, you can join a guided village walk.

Village walk (part of the excursion package)

Your guide introduces you to daily life in the settlement, the story of missionary Poul Egede, and the protected church and historic colonial buildings.

We recommend lunch and dinner at Restaurant Egede.

Day 4:
Peace on the tundra or adventure — Hike in the backcountry

After breakfast, you may enjoy a relaxing day or join a guided hike.

Tundra hike (part of the excursion package)

You can take part in a guided tundra hike, experiencing Greenland’s backcountry with its low vegetation, mountains, and distant views of drifting icebergs. The hike is easy to moderate and offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with the landscape and the stillness.

The rest of the day is at your leisure — enjoy the views from your terrace, read a book, or relax with something cold to drink.

Day 5:
Return to Ilulissat – Relaxation and farewell (or optional Glacier Adventure)

After breakfast, you return to Ilulissat by boat. Once in town, you have time to enjoy the day at your own pace — perhaps visit the Icefjord Centre, take a final walk along the coastline, or browse for Greenlandic arts and crafts.

Glacier Adventure (optional add-on)

If you have purchased the Glacier Adventure, an exciting day of breathtaking scenery awaits. The tour begins with a boat trip from Ilimanaq to a remote fjord, where you go ashore, then continues by UTV (all-terrain vehicle) through rugged, untouched landscapes. The route takes you across mountains and tundra, with stops along the way to enjoy the views and take photos.

After the UTV ride, you continue on foot with an experienced guide to the edge of an impressive glacier. Here, you will have time to enjoy the silence, the sweeping views, and perhaps have lunch overlooking the ever-moving ice.

In the late afternoon, you return by boat to Ilulissat, where you once again check in at Hotel Arctic.

Day 6:
Flight to Nuuk and optional Qooqqut Nuan – Fish'n'dish in the fjord

After breakfast and check-out in Ilulissat, you fly to Nuuk. Upon arrival, you are transferred to Hotel Hans Egede Express, where you check in and have time to relax or take a short stroll in town.

Today you can explore Nuuk’s many attractions — and if you wish, enjoy a culinary excursion.

Fish’n’Dish (part of the excursion package)

Toward the end of the day, you head into Nuuk Fjord for an unforgettable “Catch & Eat” experience. You sail to Qooqqut Nuan, where you catch your own fish — typically cod or redfish — which is then prepared by the restaurant’s chefs. Along the way, you can enjoy spectacular scenery with mountains, waterfalls, and perhaps whales in the distance.
After dinner and some time to relax in the area, you return to Nuuk by boat.

Ilimanaq Lodge

Ilimanaq Lodge consists of 15 cabins and opened in 2017. The cabins are operated by World of Greenland, which also operates the cabins at Glacier Lodge in Eqi north of Ilulissat. Near the cabins, you find two central, protected houses from the colonial era. They contain the reception and a restaurant respectively, but also a museum and conference facilities. These are some of the oldest buildings in Greenland.
The 15 cabins all have direct views of Disco Bay. Each cottage can accommodate 1 to 4 people, and each has a private bathroom and toilet. The cabins are a little more than 40 square meters (430 square feet) and furnished with modern furniture in a rustic, Nordic look. Also, all cabins have a private terrace where you can enjoy the view and enjoy the sound of the waves against the rocks.

Hotel Arctic

Greenland’s most famous hotel is Hotel Arctic in Ilulissat. It is located with a fantastic view of Ilulissat town, Ilulissat Ice Fjord, and Disko Bay. Hotel Arctic is the world’s northernmost 4-star hotel, and on top of that, the hotel features a 5-star conference center. The hotel is located just outside the town, approximately a 15-minute walk from the town center (app. 1.5 km from the central intersection in town).

The hotel has two great restaurants, and the large terrace outside the restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine while the sun shines its golden glow at midnight over the icebergs at Ilulissat Ice Fjord.

NOTE: The hotel offers airport transfers, but there are not transfers in connection with excursions or such.
