Whale watching, dog sled, snowmobile, ice and musk oxen...
The Greenland whale sometimes reach an age of more than 250 years and is the longest living of all mammal! But the age is not the only thing that impresses: The Greenland whale grows to 18 meters long, weighs up to 100 tons and live in the planet's most beautiful places around Canada and Greenland.
On this wonderful spring trip you have the opportunity to experience the Greenland whale at sea up cloast at the Disko Island. Starting from the old whaling town Godhavn (Qeqertarsuaq) we offer two whale watching excursions and take you on a hiking trip to ’Udkiggen’, where the whalers spotted the whales.
There is much more in the program on this eventful trip: A dogsled trip to ’Blæsedalen’ (the blowing valley) and a snowmobile brings us 900 meters above sea level, where we stay overnight in a comfortable cabin with the most magnificent view, one can imagine. A visit to the arctic station and a town trip in the small town are also on the program. The trip starts and ends in Kangerlussuaq with lectures and a trip to the never-ending ice cap..
We stay at the Polar Lodge, Hotel Disko, in the Lyngmark cabin and at Aasiaat Seaman’s home. Throughout the journey you are in company with Thomas Bjørneboe Gomes Berg, who besides being chairman of the Danish Mammal Association is Ph.D., a researcher specializing in Arctic fauna, nature photographer, writer and employed by Naturama in Svendborg. An experienced tour guide from Greenland Travel is also participating on the tour.
