Guided City Walk in Sisimiut - JHS01
Get to know Sisimiut on a two-hour tour taking in the history, culture and modern everyday life of the town. We will be visiting the craft workshops in the old Royal Greenland Trading Company warehouse, the museum in the old town with its gaily-painted beautiful houses from the colonial period and the famous entrance gate made out of a whale’s jawbone. In the fascinating open fish and meat market ”brættet” your guide will tell you all about local fishing traditions and the catch of the day. You will then head for the skinworking studio where you can see sealskins being made into jackets, slippers and handbags, and watch musk wool spun into yarn, a unique tradition in the Sisimiut area.

Culture and history tour to Teleøen - JHS002
Despite Greenland’s enormous size, throughout the ages the population has chosen to live in the same few areas. Teleøen Island, Sallinnguit, is one of these places, where you find old and new. Various Inuit cultures have settled here over the past 4,000 years. Even today you can see traces that bear witness to them. Learn all about the history of the Inuit people before Europeans arrived. See the ruins and admire the handsome views over the town and the ancient hunting grounds.

Town tour by bus - JHS003
Experience most of Sisimiut by bus. Coffee "kaffemik" with a Greenland family - JHS011
Kaffemik is a tradition in Greenland. Literally meaning “please come to our house for coffee”, Kaffemik is more than just afternoon coffee. It is an invitation for coffee and Greenland cakes or buns, after which you swap tales. You will be invited into a Greenland home and learn a bit about their way of life.

Visit the abandoned settlement Assaqutaq - JHS029
In the 60's and 70's a lot of settlements in Greenland were closed as people chose to move to the bigger cities to find jobs and to benefit from the modern facilities. Assaqutaq which lies at the bottom of the south side of Kællingehætten is one of those settlements. It is used as a summer camp by the local schools and in June theres is a lot of activity because people from Sisimiut come to the area to fish Ammasetter, a small fish used as dog food. One the short hike through the settlment we will pass the old fish factory, the summer camp and the beautiful old church.

Dog feeding and lecture on sleddogs - JHS035
The winter is sled time in Sisimiut. On this excursion you get to feed and stroke a team of dogs if you like. Twenty dogs barking as they await their meal is a sight and sound to behold. Dog owners provide a demonstration with sled, reins and whip and explain all about dog sled life.

2 hour dogsled ride to Niujarfik - JHS014
This trip takes you to the foot of Niujarfik, a natural stopping point before the major inclines. As there are no big uphill and downhill stretches on this trip it gives you a genuine feel of what it is like to ride on a dogsled. Not recommended for anyone with serious back problems.

4 hour dogsled trip - JHS015
The trip goes to the observation point at Qiterlinguaq, where you will see a remarkable cabin shaped like a UFO. The cabin has attracted plenty of comments and guesswork over the years. The ride itself across the undulating landscape is a delight, and provides a genuine feel for the workrate of the dogs and skill of the driver. Not recommended for anyone with back problems.

Full day dogsled trip - JHS016
Breathtaking trip with plenty to see, starting with the first observation point “Qiterlinnguaq”. From here you can look over Kangerluarsuk Tulleq (førstefjord), and to the south, the town and summit of “Kællingehætten”. The trip then continues along the steep north slope of the hill and frozen fjord to the foot of Kangerluarsuk Tulleq.
Driving along this hilly landscape with steep cliffs and slopes is a tremendous thrill. It is a wonderful yet nerve-tingling experience in which the driver, dog team and nature seem to become as one with each other. Not recommended for anyone with back problems.
