Hannibal’s House

This house is not rented out to individual travellers, but we use it on some of our trips in the Disko Bay area.

The biggest house in Saqqaq is ‘Hannibal’s House’, named after the legendary Hannibal Fencher who lived in the settlement. The house is now used as a summer cottage/cabin. We have to do all the house keeping ourselves, including the chopping of ice floes for melt water and for cooling the provisions.

There is not a bath in the house, but it is possible to buy a shower at the new service house of the settlement. Hannibal’s House has a lovely, fenced-in garden and the northernmost green house in Greenland. From the house and the garden there is a great view of the Disko Bay with the magnificent icebergs drifting by.
