Transportation in Greenland

All our tours and packages start out either in Copenhagen, the capitol of Denmark, or from Reykjavik, the capitol of Iceland. The flight from Copenhagen takes 4, 40 hours and the route is operated by Air Greenland. From Iceland the flight time is shorter, from one hour and a few hours more depending on your destination in Greenland.

Domestic transportation in Greenland is either by plain, helicopter or by coastal boat - or in the case of shorter distances - a local boat. There are no roads between towns in Greenland. The transportation itself is part of your Greenland experience. The advantage of flights are that it takes you many kilometres in short time. However many of our guest also prefer to go by coastal ship either as their main way of transportation or as part of a journey where plain and coastal ship is combined.
